For a thou­sand years, I had not been known, and I was still alive. I knew bet­ter than to pine for things that could not be mine. I’d been dis­tracted by an amaz­ing expe­ri­ence, a moment. But it was over now, and I would go on to do my work and ful­fill the pur­pose Nyx des­tined for me. I did not need a close rela­tion­ship with my part­ner to do that.
